How it works

  • What are Bonus Bucks?
    • Bonus Bucks are extra dollars you can receive when you use your SNAP-EBT card at participating farmers’ market and farm stands. They work just like Double Up Food Bucks and can be spent on fresh fruits and vegetables.
    • EXAMPLE: Spend $10 in SNAP and receive $10 in Double Up Food Bucks PLUS $10 in Bonus Bucks. That’s $20 of FREE locally grown fruits and vegetables!
  • What’s the difference between Bonus Bucks and Double Up Food Bucks?
    • Double Up Food Bucks and Bonus Bucks spend the same on locally grown fruits and vegetables
    • Bonus Bucks are available for a limited time and EXPIRE on August 31st or while funds last
    • Double Up Food Bucks tokens do not expire. Bonus Bucks vouchers expire on 8/31/26
  • Who can use Bonus Bucks?
    • Anyone who receives SNAP benefits. No sign up needed.

At farmers’ markets:

  • Find a Market: See the list at the top of this page.
  • Look for a Market Manager or the information booth
    • Before you shop, go to the farmers’ market information booth and ask about Double Up Food Bucks. Market staff are ready to help you get started.
  • Get your SNAP-EBT and Double Up tokens
    • Let the farmers’ market staff know how much you want to spend from your SNAP-EBT Card at the market.
    • For every $2 you spend from your EBT Card, you will get $2 in Double Up Food Bucks PLUS $2 in Bonus Bucks.
    • Markets use tokens for both SNAP-EBT and Double Up Food Bucks purchases. Bonus Bucks are $2 paper vouchers.
  • Shop for food
    • Use your Double Up tokens and Bonus Bucks to buy locally grown fruits and vegetables.
    • Use your SNAP-EBT Card tokens to buy any SNAP-eligible foods, including bread and meat.
    • Get the very best FREE fruits and vegetables this summer.

At Farm Stands and Mobile Markets

  • Find a participating farm stand or mobile market near you (See list above)
  • Shop for locally grown fruits and veggies
  • Pay with your SNAP-EBT Card and get Double Up Food Bucks PLUS Bonus Bucks
    • Your locally grown produce will be discounted 50% at the cash register. Just tell the cashier that you want to use Double Up Food Bucks. It’s that simple.
    • Receive FREE Bonus Bucks to spend at the farm stand or mobile market the same day.

At CSAs and Grocery Stores

Unfortunately, Bonus Bucks are not available at CSAs or grocery stores. You can still use Double Up Food Bucks at your local participating CSA or grocery store.
